What we collect
- Account information — if you sign up, we store your email address and display name (via our authentication provider, Supabase).
- Saved spots and stories, and reviews you write — tied to your account so you can find them again.
- Language preference — stored in a cookie so the site remembers which language you last chose.
- Basic usage analytics — we count views, clicks on contact/booking buttons, shares, and saves per spot, to understand what's useful. This isn't tied to your identity beyond what's described above.
Cookies
We use a small number of cookies: one to remember your language choice, and one (session-based) to keep you signed in if you have an account.
If you accept the cookie banner shown on your first visit, we may also load privacy-respecting analytics (Google Analytics), which helps us understand which content is useful. You can decline this and still use the site normally — declining only turns off analytics, not access to any content or feature. We do not run third-party advertising and do not use cookies to personalize ads.
Third-party services we use
- Supabase — hosts our database and handles account sign-in.
- OpenFreeMap — provides the map tiles shown on the map page.
- Google Analytics (only if you accept the cookie banner) — measures aggregate site usage. It is not loaded at all unless you accept.
- Affiliate partners (Amazon, GetYourGuide, Klook) — booking/purchase links to these sites may include a tracking parameter that credits us if you make a purchase. We don't receive any personal data about you from these clicks.
Your choices
- You can decline analytics cookies at any time via the cookie banner.
- You can delete saved spots, saved stories, and reviews yourself from your account.
- To request deletion of your account entirely, contact us using the details below.
